North Korea

12/17/2006
The human rights record of North Korea is extremely difficult to fully assess due to the secretive and closed nature of the country. The North Korean government makes it very difficult for foreigners to enter the country and strictly monitors their activities when they do. Even aid workers are subject to considerable scrutiny and excluded from places and regions the government does not wish them to enter. Since citizens cannot freely leave the country, it is mainly from stories of refugees and defectors that the nation's human rights record has been constructed. The government's position, expressed through the Korean Central News Agency, is that North Korea has no human rights issue, because its socialist system was chosen by the people and serves them faithfully.

Whereas the original versions of these pictures were larger and well-captioned, you've left us with small, un-captioned pictures that you stole with only a size 8 "attribution" to the original source and the brave person who took the photos ("thanks tema.ru"). You should be ashamed.

so peaceful and beautiful. i wish more places could look like that. too bad humans can't organize meaningfully without an iron fist or an eye in the sky.

Amazing. I am fond of their culture, yet in all of these pictures there is an empty feeling or some sort of seemingly baron aspect about the dprk.

The article seems to complain that peoples' photos without their permission. That's no different than in the US. There are cameras everywhere if you look for them.

Real peaceful, since you have to hide all day and watch what you say lest you be executed.....

And no one on the street because they are too busy looking for food......

Very similar to eastern european countries before the revolutions in the 80's. The cult of personality everywhere.

You suck. I saw these pix on another site months ago. Each one had commentary that added so much to the picture itself. It's unconscionable that you would re-post these on your site with so little effort at attribution to the original source. You are a hack artist and you ought to take these shots down.

I guess theft and plagiarism is what they teach in educational institutions these days. These pictures are a blatant ripoff from tema.ru
